Elena Reygadas is one of the most celebrated chefs in all of Mexico City. Yet, despite her massive (and continually growing) fame, Lardo—one of a handful of Reygadas’s restaurants—has accrued renown not by way of artificial promotion but through organic, consistent excellence. A favorite of locals and visitors alike, Lardo’s airy interior, general informality, and earthy décor eschews any assumption of pretension or stuffiness. If you’re in the area and fancy a break from regional cuisine, you can’t do much better than their Mediterranean variety.
