Mexico City

Mexico City offers every ambiance imaginable. Its boisterous historical center, which provides a taste of what a 22 million-strong population can feel like, is not far from the colorful, quiet streets of La Condesa and Roma Norte. Walking around, you’ll notice that the city’s rich history is always present—while many avenues are lined with 16th-century Spanish architecture, Aztec pyramids like Teotihuacan exist just 30 minutes outside of the metropolis. One of the best ways to discover this city is through its museums. The National Museum of Anthropology, which houses the world’s largest collection of ancient Mexican art, will leave you with an excellent foundation of Mexican history. The homes of Frida Kahlo and Luis Barragán offer a more modern perspective, while the Museo de Arte Popular sticks with tradition (it also has a fabulous gift shop). Speaking of shops, La Ciudadela Market and Onora are must-visits for those in need of new homeware. And the food scene is just exceptional.
