Contramar

Dinner at Contramar.

Calle de Durango 200, Roma Nte., Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico

When people talk about restaurants in Mexico City, they almost always mention Contramar, and yet Gabriela Càmara’s buzzing seafood restaurant, opened in 1998, still exceeds the hype. Located in the city’s stylish Condesa neighborhood, the spot—think white tablecloths and marine murals—is perfect for a long weekend lunch. We recommend the red-and-green grilled snapper, the raw-tuna tostadas, and as many carajillos (Mexico’s version of an Irish coffee) as the heart desires. Book the three P.M. slot; if you can’t get a reservation, try Entremar, Contramar’s equally excellent sister restaurant. —Julia Vitale
