Established in 2018 by the curator Alexandra Hodkowski and the artist Alvaro Alcocer, Head Hi is a Brooklyn-based art and design space primarily dedicated to publications and cultural programming. In 2019, it launched the annual and increasingly high profile Head Hi Lamp show, which sold creations made by designers, craftspeople, and passionate non-professionals. “With prices ranging from $8 to $8,000,” wrote David Graver in 2021, “the selection of fixtures illuminate a spectrum of creativity, ingenuity and accessibility.” Featuring around 200 lamps—works by artists, artisans, and inventive amateurs—this year’s show takes place during the NYCxDESIGN Festival. It will shift to a biannual format after 2024. —Jeanne Malle
