For two decades, from 1997 to 2017, the beau monde found it impossible to visit Paris without witnessing what on earth was happening at Colette. The Rue Saint-Honoré concept shop, founded by Sarah Andelman and her mother, Colette Roussaux, flung together fashion, art, beauty, and all sorts of aesthetically pleasing goodies with such panache that its name became shorthand for a certain sort of unstudied cool. Although Colette closed, Andelman’s creative energies remain as turbocharged as ever. Now the editor of the Just An Idea book collection, which specializes in the work of atypical artists, Andelman brings her sensibility to Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche, in Paris, through April 21. Her curation of exhibitions and products that celebrate the art of reading and writing is sprinkled throughout the department store. (As if we needed another excuse to shop there.) Herewith, she shares her key components to the good life. —Ashley Baker
