The Trench

Another Tomorrow

Despite our many jackets, the Perfect Modern Trench has managed to elude us—until now. Sustainable luxury brand Another Tomorrow has debuted this beauty just in time for autumn. Made in Antegnate, Italy, using certified organic cotton, finished with a bit of stretch, it has been pared back to the basics to great effect. (Bonus points for the concealed buttons.) Whether it’s paired with jeans and sweaters or a work-y suit, it can keep all types of company—and its carbon footprint has been offset all the way to your door, so there’s no need to resist its charms. ($980, anothertomorrow.co)

The Men’s Sneakers

Swims

According to our sources in the South of France, Swims shoes are all the rage, and for good reason: they’re breathable, lightweight, and rather good-looking. We’re partial to the Breeze Wave Penny Keeper Loafer, which is a Continental mash-up of retro-sneaker good looks and comfort, combined with espadrille elegance. The rubber gives you grip on the slippery decks, and the knit upper keeps you feeling—and looking—cool. ($80, swims.com)

The Skirt

Le Kilt

Correct: it doesn’t quite yet feel like kilt weather. But fall will arrive imminently, and it’s best to have the closet stocked for the change in temps. Le Kilt designer Samantha McCoach has perfected this form thanks to her grandmother, who spent 40 years as a kilt-maker on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile. As the proud owner of a black-and-white patchwork style from the fall ’19 collection, your Air Mail style correspondent can vouch for the brand’s quality, fit, and flair. While we’re tempted by the short black mini from fall ’20, this knee-length teal-blue stunner is the real winner. Made of 100 percent wool, it fastens with leather buckles and includes a silver pin to prevent any wardrobe malfunctions. ($620, matchesfashion.com)

The Glasses

Izipizi

Technically, we’re recommending the adult version of Izipizi’s stylish #C Pulp screen glasses, but they’re also essential for the Zoom schoolers in your life. We’ve been relying on this French purveyor of well-priced, high-quality sunglasses for years, but it’s these beauties, which filter out 40 percent of the blue light emitted by L.E.D. screens, that we’re loving best these days. Good looks aside, they are comfortable and secure, and are also available with tinted lenses, for those of you who prefer to type away alfresco. The kids love them, and the protection they offer will make you feel just a tiny bit better about all of that screen time. ($50, izipizi.com)
