The Jeans

Khaite

Leave it to us to find the very best fall jeans on the market, only to discover that they cost roughly as much as dinner at Daniel. (Wait, does that make them a bargain?) We are loyal to Levi’s, and yet these pitch-perfect Daria jeans from Khaite are just the thing to make our hearts pound. Why? The flattering high-rise fit, the perfectly tapered leg, the ever so subtle washing, even the black enamel button—we can find no fault. This isn’t the first time we’ve fallen for designer Catherine Holstein’s denim; a pair of stone-colored straight-legs served us beautifully for three whole years before a Red Wine Incident sent them to an early retirement. In brief: worth it. ($380, matchesfashion.com)

The Jacket

Burberry

Planning on spending all of your time outdoors until further notice? Join the club. It’s an inconvenient truth that during fall 2020, the jacket will be the most important piece of one’s wardrobe. An upgrade is in order—specifically, this suede-trimmed, nylon number from Burberry, which nods to traditional military uniforms. In addition to its good looks, it also does good: 100 percent of its profits will be directed toward Space for Giants, a nonprofit conservation organization that protects African eco-systems that elephants rely on. ($2,750; net-a-porter.com)

The Sweater

Kule

There is no such thing as too many striped sweaters, which are absolute essentials. We’ve been particularly partial to slightly off-kilter versions from Kule for several seasons now, and the latest collection is just as covetable. The Nika is slightly cropped, a bit boxy, and stylishly finished with shoulder buttons and a kicky little red stripe on the cuff. Ideal with jeans on the weekend, but why not switch things up with pants in a contrasting color? Or even some slouchy chinos? While you’re perusing Kule’s Web site, you might want to score a few of their T-shirts as well. ($298, kule.com)

The Bag

Métier London

After months of carrying around a tote overflowing with Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer, we’ve had enough. Why not usher in fall with a more elegant alternative? Your Air Mail style correspondent has been lusting after the Roma bag from Métier London for quite some time and is ready to invest. Who can resist the two-tone design? Hand-made in Italy and finished with a detachable chain strap, it’s large enough to fit the essentials without sacrificing fashion. Importantly, the interior is compartmentalized with card slots and a zip pocket, ensuring that one has plenty of room for a few masks as well. ($1,529; matchesfashion.com)
