Button Up

The Gucci Jacket

The bouclé tweed jacket has never made more sense than it does now that we’re in October. At Gucci, Alessandro Michele has dreamed up a sporty take on the style that has a looser fit, lion-embossed buttons, and some much-needed attitude. It’s ideal for the great outdoors (a sporting event, perhaps?) when paired with jeans, and truly adventurous types will recall that it was shown on the runway over a slinky evening dress. Corporate citizens might want to secure the matching skirt as well. ($4,500; net-a-porter.com)

Carry

Hermès Wallet

You’re probably carrying less cash these days (by choice, not by circumstances, we trust), yet no matter how much our Tech Overlords want us to go cashless, you still need a good wallet. That’s where the Guernesey 3CC comes in. Slim and understated when closed, it is also just about the chic-est, most intelligently designed billfold we’ve ever seen: open it, and you get three separate sections. And with its Epsom finish it also ages perfectly—which is good, because long after Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos have confiscated all our paper money, you’ll still want to be carrying this. ($560, hermes.com)

Throw Some Shade

Valentino Sunglasses

Currently filming your latest project at Cinecittà? No? Forgive us, but your glamorous sunglasses are terribly misleading. Valentino’s new crystal-studs eyewear collection evokes the sass and spirit of an Italian film legend without requiring any acting credits whatsoever. This cat’s-eye metal frame is hand-set with stud-shaped Austrian crystals, and as a result it functions almost like jewelry, rather than standard-issue eyewear. Dark-blue lenses are also available, but we prefer the opaque option for obvious reasons. ($460, valentino.com)

Give a Twirl

La DoubleJ Skirt

A wardrobe staple in the 50s, thanks to Christian Dior’s famous Bar suit, the midi-length circle skirt has been eclipsed by minis and maxis ever since. A damn shame, really. Luckily for those who value elegance and versatility, La DoubleJ founder JJ Martin has re-introduced the style in a graphic pink-and-black Tetris print. High-waisted and made of a go-everywhere stretch cotton, it’s happy to be worn throughout the year—ideally with an equally exciting blouse, as Martin proposes. ($630, ladoublej.com)

Get Sporty

Nike Sneakers

These days, the streets of style capitals around the world are dominated by designer sneakers. Whether or not this is entirely a good thing is a discussion for another day, but for the moment, we’re delighted by the latest release from Nike, the original purveyor of design-centric kicks with serious athletic cred. The Air Max 270 React draws its inspiration from a mishmash of art movements from the previous century, and they’re as light and bright as can be, complete with a squishy sole that practically bounces around town. This black-and-white example, accented with bleached coral, is especially attractive, but if you have a better idea, Nike invites you to design your own. ($150, nike.com)
