The Other Lamb

Streaming on VOD

What if The Handmaid’s Tale were dropped into the misted forests of the Pacific Northwest? And there was but one man in the group—the brooding Shepherd? And the flock consisted of the Shepherd’s spellbound “wives” and the daughters they’ve had with him? The Other Lamb, directed by Malgorzata Szumowska, has been called a horror film and a thriller, but it’s really more of a dark allegory about entrancement. Of special interest is Raffey Cassidy, the young actress cast as Selah, one of the daughters. Her Pre-Raphaelite profile is mesmerizing, and her thick, dark, plaited hair is straight out of a painting by Burne-Jones. The movie is borne in her face. —L.J.
